ENT-trained sleep surgeon
She completed her training in New Zealand in general ENT conditions. She then underwent an intensive fellowship in Paediatric and Adult Sleep Surgery in Australia and the US, working under one of the world leaders in the discipline, and is now one of relatively few fellowship-trained Sleep Surgeons around the world.
She is regularly an invited speaker to international conferences, is active in the Australasian Sleep Association and International Sleep Surgery Society, and works within a multi-national, multi-disciplinary research group. She holds a public hospital appointment where her practice is general ENT and sleep.
Outside of clinical work, she has been appointed by the Minister of Health to the New Zealand Medical Council. Also, she sits on the National Board and the Māori Health Advisory Group for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, is on the Specialist Council of the New Zealand Medical Association, is an Executive of the New Zealand branch of the Australasian Sleep Association, is a Trustee for the Hearing Research Foundation and is an Advisor to the ENT Training Board.
